Last week Loree & Loree launched its Arbitration Award Enforcement Practice Website, which is designed to highlight the award enforcement and challenge services we offer as part of our arbitration and arbitration law practice (referred to in our website as our Arbitration Law, Practice & Procedure practice, but what’s in a name?). As part and parcel of that, the website also provides what we hope will be some useful general information about the Federal Arbitration Act and proceedings to confirm, vacate, modify or correct arbitration awards.
We used a WordPress platform to create, and continue to use it to maintain, the site, and WordPress makes it pretty easy to make a blog part of the site, so we of course could not resist the opportunity to create a blog that is limited to the limited subject matter of the site itself: Federal Arbitration Act and state arbitration law award enforcement practice, a topic we’ve blogged a lot out about here at the Forum since 2009. The new blog is the Arbitration Award Practice Blog.
The focus of the Arbitration Award Practice Blog will be articles in basically the same type of format as the Forum’s “Nuts & Bolts” and “FAQs” series. The goal is to publish plain-English articles addressing arbitration-award-related topics or issues that are important (or at least frequently arise) or are sometimes misunderstood. Extensive knowledge will not be presumed, but we’re hoping that the articles will appeal to an audience whose experience with arbitration and arbitration law covers a broad spectrum.
The informal tag line that appears on the new blog’s posts page sums up what the blog is about pretty well: “Nuts and Bolts and FAQs about Confirming, Enforcing, Vacating, Modifying and Correcting Arbitration Awards under the Federal Arbitration Act and State Arbitration Statutes.”
So far we’ve posted two articles on the Arbitration Award Practice Blog: (a) “Welcome to the Arbitration Award Practice Blog!”; and (b) “Is a Motion, Petition or Action to Vacate an Arbitration Award under Section 10 of the Federal Arbitration Act Basically an Appeal of the Arbitrator’s Award?”
As mentioned above the Arbitration Award Enforcement Practice Website itself features some information that may be pertinent to those interested in or curious about the judicial enforcement of arbitration awards. Here’s a list of those web pages:
- What is Arbitration Law and Why is it so Important?
- What is the Federal Arbitration Act and When does it Apply?
- Can I Challenge an Arbitration Award by Asking a Court to Vacate it?
- Can I Enforce an Arbitration Award in Court by Asking a Court to Confirm it?
Enjoy!
